LAVERNE FFA COMPETES AT PREQUEL LIVESTOCK JUDGING CONTEST, NOC SHEEP FIELD DAY, & BIG THREE FIELD DAYS

The Laverne FFA chapter was well represented at the Prequel Livestock Judging Contest at the Major County Fairgrounds in Fairview, Okla., Northern Oklahoma College’s Sheep Field Day in Tonkawa, Okla.  & Oklahoma State University’s Big Three Field Days at the Totusek Arena in Stillwater, Okla.

The first annual Prequel Livestock Judging Contests was a good success to start the year off. Laverne FFA took four students to compete in the contest, including Camdyn Kolbe, Kylen Kamp, Selah Bentley, and Dallie McAtee. The junior team ended up placing 4th overall. Individual placing highlights included Camdyn Kolbe placing 4th and Selah Bentley placing 9th overall.

The NOC Sheep Field Day brought in around 200 youth to participate in this livestock judging contest in which they judged 8 classes of sheep. Laverne FFA took five students to compete in the contest, including Putman Tucker, Royce Henricks, Camdyn Kolbe, Selah Bentley, and Dallie McAtee. The junior team consisting of Royce Henricks, Selah Bentley, and Camdyn Kolbe placed 5th overall. Individual placing highlights included Royce Henricks placing 11th overall.

Big Three Field Days brings around 1,900 youth to Stillwater to participate in three days of livestock judging. There they judged cattle, pigs, sheep, and goats over three days looking at 21 classes of animals. Laverne FFA took five students to compete in the contest, including Camdyn Kolbe, Dallie McAtee, Kylen Kamp, Royce Henricks, and Putman Tucker. The junior team consisting of Camdyn Kolbe, Dallie McAtee, Kylen Kamp, and Royce Henricks placed 8th overall in the three day competition. Other results included 4th place on cattle day, 11th place on sheep/goat day, 15th place on swine day. Individual placing highlights included Camdyn Kolbe placing 25th and Kylen Kamp placing 30th overall.

These contests are one of many other livestock judging contests that Laverne FFA will go to this upcoming school year. Look for more highlights to come!
