The Laverne FFA chapter was represented at the 50th annual Oklahoma FFA Alumni Leadership Camp at the Tulakogee Conference Center on Fort Gibson Lake near Wagoner, Okla.

More than 1,600 FFA members from over 300 Oklahoma FFA chapters were registered to one of four 3½ day sessions June 26-July 9 2022. Laverne FFA took 10 students to two different sessions. Those who attended Session One were Sam Scott, Kresta Badley, Whitley Cash, Putman Tucker, Kenna Vaughan, and Kaitlin Vaughan. Those who attended Session Three were Kylen Kamp, Camdyn Kolbe, Timber Baker, and Shane Goodwin.

Alumni Leadership Camp is meant to engage students and develop their leadership skills personally and for a team setting. There were numerous speakers and presenters from around the country including keynote speaker Ben Glenn as well as a hypnotist.

“I loved meeting and making new friends, getting to see old friends, as well as further develop my leadership skills” said Shane Goodwin, Laverne FFA Member.

June 29th through July 1st the Laverne FFA officers traveled down to Moore, Okla. and participated in their annual officer retreat. The Laverne FFA Officers for 2022-2023 are President: Sam Scott, Vice President: Kresta Badley, Secretary: Whitley Cash, Treasurer: Kylen Kamp, Reporter: Putman Tucker, Sentinel: Kenna Vaughan, and Chaplin: Kaitlin Vaughan. While there, they planned out the year’s events and activities as well as grew closer as a team through team building activities and games. The officer team also participated in an escape room as well as visited the Express Clydesdales Ranch in Yukon, Okla.

“It was a great bonding time. We learned a lot of new leadership skills about ourselves and the rest of our team. We made a lot of progress in planning our year while still having a lot of fun” Sam Scott, Laverne FFA President, said.

Upcoming activities planned for the rest of the summer include Livestock Judging contests, State Wheat Show, as well as the Back to School Bash/Ice Cream Social scheduled for August 8th at 6pm at the Ag Barn hosted by the Laverne FFA Booster Club and the Laverne FFA.
